Dayton has a new kid in the food truck game -- literally. Flyby BBQ is a new food truck that will serve customizable “build-your-own” smoked meals -- including a vegan option.
Founded in 2016 by Yellow Springs native and third-year OSU student David Butcher via an impressive trail of business competition awards, the company has been exploding in popularity through social media, road trips, catering, and taste-testing and is now ready to “show the world what BBQ can be.”
Flyby combines old-school family techniques and flavors from different regions of the US into one food truck, showcasing the best BBQ that America has to offer -- without having to leave Dayton. Currently, they offer four regional sauces on their menu: Ohio Apple Bourbon, East Carolina Hotkiss, Florida Fruity Beachside, and Kansas City Original Tangy.
Flyby gives power to the customer with a unique ordering experience highlighting fresh, natural, high-quality BBQ. The concept is simple -- you pick your base protein, what you want to eat it with, and the toppings and sauce that strike your fancy.
Add in from-scratch homestyle sides such as the Cheesiest Wisconsin Macaroni, Brisket Baked Beans, and Granny Smith Cole Slaw to name a few, and you’ve got a backyard family cookout-style meal that can’t be beat. To cool off, they also offer refreshing craft sodas from Boylan's or a California Frozen Chocolate Covered Banana for dessert.
The food truck will host its grand opening July 8, 2017 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at 1855 Successful Drive in Fairborn. Following their grand opening, Flyby will be open at 1855 Successful Dr. every Wednesday-Friday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for lunch and will “Fly” around the area on weekends visiting new locations.
