Dayton wing week menus looking crisp and delicious

When you discover a really great chicken wing, it can go from appetizer to the main course.

A mixture of the right sauce and preparation can take a humble wing to crispy, delicious edible golden glory.

The menus for Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s “Wing Week” presented by Michelob Ultra happening July 11-18 have rolled out, and from the sounds of it, there are some wings that will provide delightful summer meaty flavor.

It may not be the traditional food events that we all crave this time of year, but it’s something I’m glad to see happening as a dining option.

“Burger Week was a huge success. Restaurants created some different burgers for the event and a few have become features on their menu. Over 3,000 burgers were sold,” said Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association (MVRA), who said she expects similar interest around wings. “The Miami Valley loves their wings, and we have some awesome wing restaurants in the area. And some places you might not traditionally think of for wings. For instance, Franco’s is serving up their Italian wings. For this event, restaurants are creating some new sauces along with the crowd favorites.”

Zahora said she is looking to add additional special weeks this summer including a taco week, crazy crab week and salad week.
