When it comes to his burgers, Chris Carmichael is not modest.
“Anyone who says they have the best cheeseburger in town, ain’t ever eaten one of mine,” the owner of Carmichael’s Pub at 3011 Wayne Ave. in Dayton said. “I buy better ingredients than they do.”
Those ingredients, beef from Dot’s Market included, set the burgers apart from the competition, Carmichael said.
For National Cheeseburger Day today (Sept. 18), his restaurant is offering its Southwest Burger and an order of fries for $7.
The burger alone typically sells for $7.50.
It comes with house-made spicy mayo, onion straws and American cheese.
Carmichael’s is open until 2:30 a.m. today.
Now in its ninth year, Carmichael’s reopened its kitchen in January.
Carmichael shut down his kitchen last October citing difficulty finding good kitchen help.
The cheeseburgers and wings that made the restaurant popular were missed, Carmichael told this news organization.
“Everybody was like, ‘man, I wish you would open your kitchen back up,” he said.
The burgers have been “smashing it” since, Carmichael said.
“You might as well eat the best cheeseburger in Dayton,” he added.
Burgers range from about $7.50 to $9.
The pub’s burger menu is packed with a list that includes a pesto burger, a pimento cheese burger, a mushroom burger, a Juicy Lucy, an Italian burger, a Reuben burger, the Farm burger, the Big Mick Burger and the Lawton burger.

The Farm burger comes topped with a fried egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato and American Cheese.
The Big Mick Burger is two 1/3-pound burger patties with lettuce, pickle, onion, American cheese and a special housemade sauce.
The Big Lawton burger is 1/3-pound burger patties with housemade tartar sauce, lettuce, pickle, onion and American cheese.
Carmichael’s latest creation is the Cowboy Burger with housemade barbecue sauce, bacon and onions.
