On the Menu: A burrito to end all burritos at Taqueria Mixteca

If you thought the original burrito from Taqueria Mixteca was large, just wait until you see the monster burrito (yes, that's it's actual name).

It weighs in at almost two pounds* and includes your choice of meat, beans, lettuce, onion, sour cream, cilantro and cheese, and is double wrapped in tortillas that are crisped golden brown.

For the price of $14.99, the monster burrito could be yours. But be warned: you may want to enlist reinforcements. Picking this burrito up is completely out of the question -- it's more of a fork and knife ordeal.

The monster burrito is also available vegetarian. In that case, the burrito would include guacamole rather than meat, and an extra helping of beans and veggies.

While the burrito is delicious enough to stand alone, their homemade hot sauces bring it to a whole new level. They offer three sauces that vary in heat level, ranging from the hot red sauce to a more mild green sauce. They are definitely worth a try if you’re feeling adventurous.

Taqueria Mixteca opened in 2005 and uses recipes passed down for generations.  On their menu you can expect  to see tried and true staples of authentic Mexican cuisine like enchiladas, quesadillas and tacos, as well as a few specialties including the aforementioned monster burrito, shrimp mojo ajo and the mixteco.

*For comparison's sake, other stuff around your house that weighs two pounds, or close to it include: a pineapple, a rack of baby back ribs, two 4-stick packages of butter, two packages of bacon.
