This can’t-miss pairing event features one of Dayton’s newest restaurants and Toxic Brew Company

A Dayton restaurant is about to pair gourmet grub with something very ‘Toxic.’

Dewberry 1850 Restaurant and Lounge and Toxic Brew Company in the Oregon District have partnered for a special dinner, held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.

The meal is the fifth five-course beer pairing dinner for the restaurant located in the Dayton Marriott at the University of Dayton, 1414 Patterson Boulevard, Dayton.

Tim Skiber, the restaurant's executive chef, flexes his culinary muscles for the dinners.

“We just really want people to come in the restaurant and see what we do,” he said.

The dinner is $40.14 per person. Tickets are being sold on Eventbrite.com.

Toxic Brew will pair beers with the following menu: 

— First Course: Roasted collard greens and corn egg rolls

— Second Course: Beer-battered cheese curds

— Third Course: Salad with grilled chilled asparagus with shaved fennel, mache lettuce and avocado lime dressing

—  Fourth Course: Coffee-rubbed, braised short ribs with sweet pea and Parmesan orzo and poached egg

— Fifth Course: Homemade banana bread foster

Skiber said Dewberry is gearing up to relaunch its new main menus.

The restaurant's next food event will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and feature beer from Lost Tunnel Beer, a brand launched in October to showcase Dayton Beer Company's "eccentric" and "outlandish" beers.
