The Miami Valley boasts at least 56 Olympians – people who were raised here, lived here or went to school here – who went to 27 different Summer and Winter Games.

For the next few days we are counting down all our local Olympic heroes in alphabetical order.

19. Eric Ndri (Track & Field): Central State University, two-time Olympian, represented Ivory Coast at 1996 and 2000 Games.

18. Vida Nsiah (Track & Field): Central State University, three-time Olympian, sprinter represented Ghana in 1996, 2000 and 2004.

17. Leonard Ngoma (Swimming): Wright State University, swam 200-meter breaststroke for Zambia at 2000 Games.

16. Darrell Pace (Archery): Hamilton, won gold medals in individual competition at 1976 and 1984 Olympics, took silver in team competition at 1988 Games.

15. Janelle Parks (Cycling): Fairmont East High School, University of New Mexico, competed in the 79.2 K road race at 1984 Games.
