Freezing temps overnight, but warmer weather on its way

Today and tomorrow will be the last days in the 50s before a warmup will lead to high temperatures in the mid-70s for this weekend.

Skies will be mostly sunny today with an afternoon high near 51 degrees. Clouds will increase tonight, which will have an overnight low below freezing, around 30 degrees.

A Freeze Watch will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday for the region, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation as well as damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy and a little warmer, with a high near 56 degrees. It will be breezy with gusts as high as 24 mph possible. Overnight will be partly cloudy and cold, with a low around 38 degrees.

A warmer weather pattern begins Friday, which will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s. It will be breezy with gusts as high as 24 mph. Skies stay mostly clear Friday night, which will have an overnight low around 48 degrees.

It will be sunny and dry this weekend with highs in the mid-70s.
