Strong winds, rain expected tonight into Saturday morning

Strong winds and widespread rain move into the region tonight and through Saturday morning ahead of a cold front.

A Wind Advisory takes effect at 10 p.m. for Champaign, Darke and Miami counties, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington through 10 a.m. Saturday. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph will be accompanied by gusts as high as 50 mph.

The overnight low is expected around 47 degrees after the high for today reached 54 degrees in Dayton, 59 in Cincinnati and 51 in Columbus.

Showers are expected mainly after midnight but should come to an end by 9 a.m. Saturday, which will start cloudy before skies gradually clear. The high temperature — around 52 degrees — will be in the morning before dropping to around 37 degrees by 5 p.m., the NWS said.

Saturday night will be mostly clear and cold, with the low temperature around 20 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high around 42 degrees and a low around 25 degrees.

The new work week will start warmer with a high near 47 degrees for Monday. There is a slight chance of rain after 1 p.m., but rain is likely Monday night.

There will be a chance of rain for Tuesday and Wednesday. The temperature is expected to reach near 52 degrees under cloudy conditions for both days.
