A complex winter storm will bring a mix of rain and snow, even some sleet to the Miami Valley later today and tonight.
>>WEDNESDAY’S FORECAST: Winter Weather Advisory issued for some; snow, rain, wintry mix expected
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby and Wayne, Indiana, counties and until 1 p.m. Thursday for Randolph County, Indiana.
Here’s what you need to know traveling around this evening:
Showers will arrive towards 3 p.m. in the southern Miami Valley towards Butler, Warren and Clinton counties and will move north quickly.
The worst timeframe for travel will be between 4 and 10 p.m. This is when the Miami Valley will deal with active rain and snow, falling and producing messy roads.
Roads will likely be slushy and wet along of Interstate 70 especially during the early evening hours. Further north of Dayton, roads will become snow-covered into the evening. As you head towards Cincinnati, they will stay mainly just wet.
ON THE ROAD:
Traveling from north the south tonight you will encounter different types of precipitation. Snow and rain will be heavy so this will mean visibility be reduced especially after sunset.
KEEP IN MIND:
Along I-70 where snow will fall part of the evening, a quick accumulation is possible. This area is still expected to transition to rain late in the night which will allow some of it to melt.
