Supporting local businesses while shopping for the holidays and enjoying seasonal food and drinks are traditions that haven’t changed in a year where everything else is turned upside down.

December’s First Friday event, happening on Dec. 4 starting at 5 p.m., is all about connecting downtown Dayton’s businesses with people, to help them find local art, food, entertainment and other gifts to complete that shopping lists safely and happily.

“Whether it’s shopping for gifts online, buying a gift card to your favorite downtown business, ordering meals for pickup or delivery, or ordering your favorite holiday cocktails in a convenient to-go drink — anyone can safely support small businesses from home just as they could with a visit to their favorite downtown spots,” the Downtown Dayton Partnership said in a release.

Although this December’s First Friday might look different than those of past years, there are still plenty of Dayton shops, restaurants and arts and entertainment specials going on across downtown.

“We remind guests of the mandatory mask order in place across Dayton and the state. Masks must be worn indoors, and outdoors when the suggested six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained. Many small businesses also have capacity limits on the number of guests allowed indoors at one time,” DDP officials said.

Here are some of the highlights of downtown Dayton’s Dec. 4 First Friday.
