The regional premiere of “Dave Chappelle: Untitled Documentary” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at Heritage Bank Center, 100 Broadway St., Cincinnati. The film will also be screened in Indianapolis on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and in Columbus on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center. Each venue will feature live appearances by Chappelle and Friends.

Co-produced and directed by Yellow Springs residents and Academy and Emmy Award winners Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert (“American Factory”), the documentary (also known as “This Time This Place”) is a love letter to the beauty, quirks, culture and politics of Yellow Springs. Set against the backdrop of last summer’s emotional period of medical unease and societal unrest, the film captures a pivotal moment in which the quaint village of 3,700 found itself at a standstill. As COVID-19 shutdowns forced businesses into a bind and the nation coped with the death of George Floyd and rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, Chappelle took it upon himself to simply create art in the place he calls home.

The screening’s announcement follows on the controversial heels of Chappelle’s latest Netflix comedy special, “The Closer,” in which the comedian’s comments about the transgender community sparked a Netflix employee walkout on Oct. 20.

Patrons are reminded that no cell phones, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at the documentary screening. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. All patrons are encouraged to print their tickets in advance as well.

Tickets for all shows go on sale this Wednesday at 10 a.m. For tickets or more information, visit Ticketmaster.com.
