Ice cream for breakfast? Absolutely, and pajamas are welcome, local shop says

Your mom may have discouraged you from eating ice cream for breakfast as a child, but in all likelihood, she had never heard of the one day of the year (at least) on which it’s perfectly acceptable to dig into a pint or so of cookie-dough ice cream for the day’s first meal.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, ice cream lovers throughout the world can rejoice in their love of the frozen treat on “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.” And, conveniently enough, Jubie’s Creamery in Fairborn is hosting its very own celebration of this special holiday. Pajama-clad ice cream fans will be welcomed, and even rewarded.

The shop will open earlier for Celebrate Ice Cream for Breakfast Day and will offer specialty breakfast-inspired flavors that day such as Grandma’s Oatmeal Ice Cream, made with homemade oatmeal cookies. Other flavors will blend ice cream with your choice of eight popular breakfast cereals, including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, Fruity Pebbles and Lucky Charms, all on a special menu.

Jubie’s Creamery will be opening early on Feb. 6, at 9 a.m., to serve up these sweet treats. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fairborn YMCA. The creamery will then remain open throughout its usual hours (1-9 p.m.) with its regular menu after the event.

To make things even sweeter, Jubie’s Creamery will be handing out discounts on future purchases to those who come dressed in their pajamas.

The celebration Ice Cream for Breakfast Day isn’t limited to Fairborn. Poppin’ Off in Troy will also be celebrating the holiday with Tofts Ice Cream and Belgian waffle and doughnut sundaes for breakfast, along with breakfast-inspired popcorn flavors and other menu items that will be announced soon. Those wearing pajamas will receive a prize. The event begins at 9 a.m. Poppin’ Off is located at 125 S. Market St. in Troy. For more information, visit its Facebook page.
