Verona’s Pizza in Bellbrook is closing its doors after business Thursday, March 9 just as they mark three years in the community.
The pizza shop, located at 18 E. Franklin Street, will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“We loved every moment of being a part of the Bellbrook community. The best people to have around for business and for laughs,” a post on Feb. 3 said. “While this is a difficult decision to make, the Verona’s Pizza in Bellbrook will permanently be closing.”
Verona’s Pizza opened in the space that previously housed Gardina’s Pizza and Bellbrook Pizza Cottage in March 2020 at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We opened in the beginning of Covid in March of 2020 not knowing what was ahead of us. Turned out being one of the best years for not only business but for our family. We met a lot of amazing people and have received great business,” the post said.
After a successful first year in business, the pizza shop opened a second location in Fairborn at 11 W. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. According to the post, the Fairborn location will stay open.
Ardita Demnika and her father, Agron, will be taking over the space of Verona’s Pizza in Bellbrook to open a new restaurant called Veli’s Pasta and Pizza opening sometime this month.
Demnika told Dayton.com the restaurant will continue to serve pizza, calzones, stromblis and baked dishes with plans to add additional entrees like spaghetti and alfredo. She explained the recipes will be the same for the most part, but she and her father plan to add their own personal touch.
