The shop had outgrown its space and limited kitchen facilities “a long time ago,” Jerardi said.
A surge in the catering side of his business was a driving factor in his decision to expand, Jerardi said. But retail customers also will see an increase in offerings in his deli case, including many more grab-and-go prepared foods, the store owner said.
Still, some things will remain the same.
“I will not lose the charm of this place,” Jerardi said. “The way the front counter is set up, how the wine is set up, will not change.”
The deli is known for its sandwiches and prepares all of its salads and soups — as well as items such as hummus, pesto and salad dressings — from scratch, Jerardi said. The store is known as a hidden gem of sorts among wine enthusiasts: its selection includes a variety of high-end Italian and French wines, and a growing selection of bottled craft beers is available.
Jerardi also is founder of the Eric Jerardi Band.
