Fiona the hippo is getting her own mural — and you can help paint it

The Cincinnati Zoo’s beloved preemie hippo will soon appear on a mural across a downtown building.

Fiona will be the subject of ArtWorks’ newest mural to be painted at a veterinary clinic this summer on Race and 9th streets.

The Fiona mural will be created via the new Cincinnati Paint By Numbers program, which gives people the chance to paint alongside professional artists.

No design has been chosen yet because Artworks is still collecting idea submissions. If you have one, submit it by May 7 at the ArtWorks website.

The winning design will be chosen by public vote.

Over the past several summers, ArtWorks murals have been painted on buildings to commemorate noteworthy Cincinnatians, including Ezzard Charles, Rosemary Clooney and Jim Tarbell.

Painting on the mural will start July 10 and be complete by July 25.
