Veterans commemorated throughout Miami Valley

Veterans Day this year marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Groups throughout the Miami Valley took time to celebrate veterans of the past and present Sunday.

The Miami Valley Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America held a ceremony to commemorate veterans Sunday morning.

The corporation gathered Veterans Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park located on Patterson Boulevard in Dayton.

The Dayton VA Medical Center hosted a ceremony honoring the contributions of Dayton area veterans to the security of the United States.

Veterans received a complementary lunch from Skyline Chili.

The City of Beavercreek Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture held their Veterans Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park on North Fairfield Road at 2 p.m.

Colonel Thomas P. Sherman, the 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander at Wright Patterson Air Force Base was the events guest speaker, according to a press release.

A presentation of flags by the Clark County Sheriff’s Honor Guard was held at Littleton and Rue Funeral Home in Springfield.

Colonel Kimberly Norman, of the United States Air Force, was the guest speaker of the event on North Limestone Street.

A 21-gun salute by the United States Marine Corps Reserve and music by the U.S.S. Jammers took place at the Veteran’s Day event, according to a press release.
