Mark Ruffalo movie ‘Dark Waters’ that filmed in Hamilton coming out next month: What to know

Actor Mark Ruffalo is passionate about his newest movie that filmed in part in Hamilton last winter.

He tweeted about the movie, “Dark Waters,” this week and wrote: “This one is special to me. It’s the story of a real-life hero. And some heroes have their strength on the inside.”

The movie will be released on Nov. 22.

The movie tells the story of Cincinnati attorney Robert Bilott and his battle against the DuPont chemical company. It also stars Anne Hathaway, Bill Pullman and Tim Robbins.

It filmed in the Highland Park neighborhood at Park Avenue near Edgewood Avenue in Hamilton in January, when its name was tentatively “Dry Run.”

“Dark Waters” continues a recent streak of movies using Butler County as filming locations. The latest was the movie version of J.D. Vance’s novel “Hillbilly Elegy,” which shot for four days in August.
