Behavioral specialist accused of raping mentally impaired woman pregnant with his child, police say

A behavioral specialist who worked with a woman who is mentally disabled is accused of raping the woman and fathering her child, police said.

Bernard Betts-King has been charged with "raping a woman through the use of her mental incapacity," Fairfax County police said, according to The Washington Post.

Police said the woman became pregnant and DNA testing confirmed Betts-King is the father of the child, the Post reported.

Police said the alleged rape happened in 2018, when he worked at MVLE Community Center in Springfield, Virginia.

Police said there could be additional victims, WTTG reported.

The center helps people with disabilities find jobs or get training. It also provides other social services.

Center officials said Betts-King has been fired, the Post reported.

Police said he also worked at Community Living AlternativesWTTG reported.

Both MVLE Community Center and Community Living Alternatives are working with police for the investigation, WTOP reported.

Betts-King is in the custody of an adult detention center, WTOP reported.
