Florida minister charged with 500 counts of possessing child porn

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Osprey Church of Christ minister Charles Andrews, 66, of Englewood, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with 500 counts of possessing child pornography, as well as three counts of failing to meet sex offender registration requirements.

Before his arrest, investigators received a tip that someone had used an IP address tied to Andrews' home to download about 70 child porn photos, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Deputies searched the house and learned that Andrews had "downloaded more than 500 images to his computer, including at least 50 depicting sexual battery of a child," the release said.

Investigators also said Andrews, a registered sex offender since 2006, accessed the pornographic material from a social media account and two email addresses that he had failed to report to authorities, the release said.

Andrews is being held at the Sarasota County Jail, WFLA-TV reported.
