Cohen, 52, was initially scheduled to report to authorities on March 6.
U.S. District Judge William Pauley on Wednesday endorsed a memo filed in court requesting that Cohen’s reporting date be moved from March 6 to May 6. Cohen’s attorney, Michael Monico, said in the request that Cohen recently underwent “a serious surgical procedure and he needs to undergo intensive post-surgical physical therapy and be monitored by his physician for recovery.”
Cohen recently underwent shoulder surgery, according to The Associated Press.
Pauley sentenced Cohen to serve 36 months in prison after he admitted last year to lying in congressional testimony, multiple counts of tax evasion and arranging illicit payments to silence women who posed a risk to Trump's presidential campaign.
