"This incredible run is an example of what happens when producers, writers and actors all come together and create a show that, year after year, speaks to its audience in a powerful way," Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, told the Hollywood Reporter. "We couldn't be more proud of this remarkable achievement."

The previous record of 20 seasons was shared with “Gunsmoke,” which aired from 1955 to 1975, and the parent show of “SVU,” “Law & Order,” which ended in 2010.

“The Simpsons,” with 657 episodes over 30 seasons, is the all-time leader and still has two more seasons planned.

“SVU,” so far, has 452 episodes.
