Louisiana man claims SpongeBob SquarePants stole his paperwork, police say

A Louisiana man is accused of creating a disturbance Sunday and then blaming a cartoon character who lives in a pineapple under the sea.

According to a probable cause affidavit by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Jonathan Porter, 27, of Monroe, told police SpongeBob SquarePants had taken his paperwork and that God had battleships but had not deployed them yet, the Monroe News Star reported.

Authorities were called after a witness contacted the Sheriff's Office and said Porter had been walking up and down a street, screaming and cursing, the newspaper reported. According to the affidavit, deputies said they found a white substance on the left side of Porter's mouth.

Porter was fidgeting and allegedly resisted arrested until he was placed in handcuffs, the News Star reported. Deputies said they found methamphetamines and Subutex, a narcotic pain reliever, in the watch pocket of Porter's pants, according to the affidavit.

Porter was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, resisting an officer and two counts possession of a controlled dangerous substance, the News Star reported. Bail was set at $6,700, the newspaper reported.
