Man dies after being thrown from SUV while trying to stop tow truck operator, deputies say

Alberto Nduli, 68, ran out of his house around 7:25 a.m. to see his SUV being towed, KTRK reported.

Nduli jumped on top of the SUV in an attempt to stop operator Oscar Harrison, 33, from towing the vehicle.

When Nduli eventually fell off and hit his head, Harrison kept driving. He dropped off the SUV at a storage lot before returning to the scene, KTRK reported.

Harrison was arrested and charged with failure to render aid, KTRK reported.

"He left the scene," Sean Teare, chief of the Harris County District Attorney's Office Vehicular Crimes Division, told the Houston Chronicle. "By his own admissions prior to returning to the scene, he knew there was an altercation. He knew the owner of the vehicle was there and involved in a crash. Whether or not he knew that individual lost his life really is immaterial as to whether or not there's a failure to stop and render aid charge."

Nduli worked as a security guard and moved to the U.S. from the Congo more than two decades ago, KTRK reported.
