South Carolina Amber Alert: Sex offender arrested, accused of abducting his kids, threatening family

An Amber Alert was canceled after two children reportedly abducted by their noncustodial father were found safe in South Carolina, according to WPDE.

Officials said 43-year-old Tommy Toland abducted 11-year-old Tommir Toland and 3-year-old Ommira Toland after forcing his way into their mother's home in Newberry, South Carolina, around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said Tommy Toland is a registered sex offender who threatened to kill the family and burn the house down.

Shortly after the Amber Alert was issued, SLED found the children in a car while looking for the suspect at a previously known address in Calhoun County, authorities said. At that point, deputies said it appeared Tommy Toland had left the area on foot.

Tommy Toland was later arrested in Calhoun County, south of Columbia, according to the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said he will be brought back to Newberry County to face charges.

The suspect from the Amber Alert case has been apprehended in Calhoun County. He will be returned to Newberry County to face charges.
