West Virginia woman handcuffed children together, locked them in room, officials say

A West Virginia woman is behind bars after authorities said she locked two children in a room and handcuffed them together.

According to the Herald-Mail, 34-year-old Yasman Marie Ridley, of Martinsburg, was arrested last week after two siblings, a 10-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy, told police that they had been handcuffed to each other every night for a week or longer in a room locked with a belt. The handcuffs were removed in the mornings or if they had to eat or use the restroom, authorities said.

Investigators searched the home and found evidence that appeared to corroborate the children's story, including handcuffs and a belt, the Herald-Mail reported.

Ridley was booked in the Eastern Regional Jail on charges of felony child neglect, authorities said. Her bond was set at $45,000, according to the Herald-Mail.
