New restaurant coming to The Greene

A new Vietnamese restaurant is coming to The Greene Town Center.

The new restaurant, Pho District, will open in the previous Ranch One location beside Cold Stone Creamery, said the town center’s general manager Steve Willshaw.

The opening date of the restaurant isn’t official yet, but owner Hoang Van Nguyen said he hopes to open the restaurant by mid August. The almost 2,000 square-foot restaurant doesn’t need much construction, but Nguyen said updating the front cosmetically to look modern is important to him.

“This is my first time opening a restaurant, but I used to be a waiter so I’m really good at being clean and fresh,” Nguyen said. “That’s what I really believe, cleanness and freshness comes first.”

The outside of a store must also look clean and fresh, he said.

Serving Pho with broth made fresh daily, Vietnamese sandwiches called banh mi and Vietnamese smoothies, Nguyen said he plans to expand his restaurant to three other markets including near Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the University of Dayton and Austin Landing in the future. He also wants to eventually package his products to be sold in grocery stores.

The restaurant was a good pick for The Greene because it fits the utilization the shopping center was looking for, Willshaw said.

“We get dozens of inquiries monthly from people who have ideas about restaurants and restaurant concepts, and a lot of them are too much duplicated of what we’re already doing,” Willshaw said. “This Vietnamese restaurant is going to slide in nicely to our tenant mix.”

Nguyen isn’t new to owning a business as his family also runs a nail salon. Nguyen owns the Deluxe Nails in the Mall at Fairfield Commons and is the president of Luminous Nails Spa at 2451 Lakeview Drive in Beavercreek.
