The infant boy, with his umbilical cord still attached, was found by a resident taking out trash in the Bronx neighborhood, the television station reported.
Police called to the scene found the baby unconscious and unresponsive, WPIX reported. There were no obvious signs of trauma, police told the television station.
The baby was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, WNBC reported. A medical examiner will determine the child's cause of death, the television station reported
