The drought already has caused trees in neighborhoods, edges of parks and along the highway to change because the soil in these areas is a lot drier, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said.
The trees are stressed, so they can shut down faster.

State parks and forested areas have deeper soil moisture, which means fall colors will still emerge. The latest fall color report shows that this week, all state parks are seeing changing fall color.
