The shopping center in Centerville near Dayton-area Elsa’s Mexican Restaurants and Sports Bar has been partially demolished.

The owner of the Mexican restaurant purchased the property located at 6300 Far Hill Ave. about a month ago. The shopping center sits just north of I-675, and was previously managed by Oberer for the past two-and-a-half years.

Hemmert Far Hills Properties LLC purchased the land, and is also the owner of Elsa’s Mexican Restaurants and Sports Bars. Bill Hemmert told this news organization that there are no final plans for the 3.7-acre space.

“It’s been an eye sore for a while,” he said.

Before starting the demolition, the owners allowed law enforcement and firefighters to use the structure as a practice ground for real-life scenarios.

Hemmert said he was aware of some retailers and businesses interested in the space, but that zoning and readying the space could take more than a year. He said any announcement about how the space would be used would be purely speculative.

Elsa’s could also use some of that free space to add additional seating to the restaurant, he said.
