Try a pretzel as big as your head at this food truck

The twisted baked-treat trend exploded several years back, and it’s not going anywhere. One food truck that’s taking advantage of the craze is Bighorn Pretzel Co.

The Yellow Springs-based mobile restaurant uses “the most fresh, local ingredients available,” according to the company’s website.

The menu spans a variety of sandwiches, sliders, sides (French fries, potato salad, etc.), soft pretzels and several specialty soft pretzels. They also whip out new items.

The food truck is vastly popular, so go early before they run out and be prepared for a long wait. When it was at RiverScape MetroPark last week, about a dozen people were in line ahead of me.  By the time I got up to the counter, there were no more veggie burgers. Fortunately, I got the last two Buffalo Chicken Sliders on pretzel buns, topped with baby gherkin pickles.

I also tried the Cinnamon & Sugar Soft Pretzel. The largest pretzel I’ve ever seen, it was warm and soft, and with icing, a pure work of gastronomical art.

The grilled cheese, served on regular bread, was also pretty darn tasty, and a good choice non-pretzel-lovers, if any actually exist.
