PREBLE COUNTY FAIR

Alligator Meat

According to their Facebook page: “Crackerbillies is a food concession trailer that serves the best hand breaded Gator, Shrimp, and Chicken at the fair!” You read that right — alligator.

Honorable mention: "Bowman's Texas Tenderloin — tenderloin as big as your head."

Fair dates: July 29-Aug. 5 at the Preble County Fairgrounds in Eaton

It’s not a fair without funnel cake, right? We found a funnel cake that is even better. It’s the deliciously sweet funnel cake with the usual powdered sugar. Then they add a generous helping of Boston cream and melted chocolate. It’s like eating a doughnut in reverse!

Honorable mention: Frozen Bananas

Fair dates: Aug. 18-26 at the Darke County fairgrounds in Greenville

You know you can always get your Turkey Leg fix at the Renaissance Fest? But did you know the Montgomery County fair also has your back?

Honorable mention: There's a homemade ice cream stand with pumpkin ice cream at the Montgomery County Fair that is absolutely the best.

Next year's fair dates: July 9-14, 2018, at new fairgrounds at Arthur O. Fisher Park in Jefferson Twp.
