Kellogg has received no reports of illness to date but is taking this action as “part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods,” according to a company notice.
Recalled products come in a 10-count box, have the UPC code 280040370 and “a best if used by date” of Nov. 21, 2017 or Nov. 22, 2017.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes even fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness and abdominal pain.
It can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The issue was found as a result of routine tests the company conducts. People who have purchased the product should throw it away and contact the company for a full refund.
