New mobile BBQ stand to serve near new Dayton ‘brewcade’

The founders of a mobile barbecue stand called S&S Meat House announced today, Jan. 27, that they plan to collaborate with a new bar-arcade on East Third Street and serve from their food truck on weekends outside the "brewcade."

S&S Meat House is owned by Tim Sommer and Alex Smith, who plan to hold regular weekend hours at 1528 E. Third St. That is the weekday home of Brother’s Auto Sales, but on the weekends, extra space will house the S&S food truck and barbecue pit.

Plans call for the mobile barbecue truck to open concurrent with DK Effect, the newest Dayton bar-arcade in the works at 1600 E. Third St. DK Effect owners Joshua Brown and Tony Clark are shooting for a spring opening for their business, which will focus on arcade games and craft beers.

S&S Meat House’s founders describe their food as a fresh take on old-fashioned barbecue. “It’s all hand-tended, smoked in our locally sourced, home-built offset smoker, fueled by the aromas of local hardwoods like oak and apple,” Smith said in a release.

Smith told this news outlet the founders started building the smoker 10 months ago.

S&S Meat House intends to serve a "sneak peek" of its barbecue April 8 at the Yellow Cab Tavern's 2017 Dayton Barbecue Rodeo.
