Mostly sunny, mild today; rounds of showers and storms arrive Easter weekend

Today will be mostly sunny and mild before rounds of showers and thunderstorms arrive for Easter weekend.

The high for today will be near 66 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Clouds will increase tonight, which will have an overnight low around 50 degrees. There is a chance of showers after 3 a.m.

Showers are likely Saturday, and possibly a storm before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. The high for the day will reach near 68 degrees. Saturday also will be breezy with a southwest wind of 17 to 21 mph and gusts as high as 31 mph.

Saturday night there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy wit an overnight low around 46 degrees.

“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Repeated rainfall could lead to flooding concerns, and there is also a chance of a few strong to sever storms,” the NWS said.

Easter Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 64 degrees. Showers are likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 p.m.

Showers will continue Sunday night with a thunderstorm possible. The overnight low will fall to around 55 degrees.
