And before the Wright State and University of Dayton men's and women's teams begin their 2015-16 campaigns, here are 5 things to get you prepped for each squad's season-opening games on Friday, Nov. 13.
  • 1. Kim Demmings plays her final season at Wright State

In an interview with Dayton Daily News' Tom Archdeacon, Wright State women's basketball coach Mike Bradbury didn't mince words when describing Kim Demmings' talent level. "I can tell you, she's gonna go down as the best player in Horizon League history. And it's not even close that she's the best player -- men or women -- in Wright State history. When you consider everything, that can't be disputed." The incredibly talented guard will seek to avenge the season that never was a year ago, when she endured a season-ending foot injury a mere 90 seconds into her team's first game. But if she maintains her health this year, she will likely break numerous WSU career records, including the all-time scoring mark.

  • 2. UD women's team will live life after Andrea Hoover, Ally Malott

Recently, Dayton Flyers head coach Jim Jabir was asked how his team plans to replace WNBA draft picks Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott from its 28-7 team a season ago. "I think you don't," Jabir told DDN. "I think you form a new identity." The Flyers received two first-place votes and were picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll. But senior guards Kelley Austria and Amber Deane will look to boost a UD team that lost two of its three top-scorers from last year.

  • 3. WSU men's team looks to rebound after last season

The Wright State men's basketball team ended last season on a downswing, dropping 13 of its final 14 contests. But the program is looking forward to a bounce-back season this year, after getting picked to finish fifth in the Horizon League. "I know our team, and I know if we can remain healthy, we'll have a chance to compete for the championship," Raiders head coach Billy Donlon told DDN.

Wright State's out of conference schedule is highlighted by a trip to Lexington, Ky. on Friday, Nov. 20, when the Raiders battle No. 2 Kentucky. The Flyers will see action against SEC foe Alabama on Nov. 17 in Dayton and Iowa on Nov. 26 in Orlando, Fla. during the Advocare Invitational.

The Flyers, meanwhile, will play a number of currently ranked teams, including Purdue (Dec. 6), Princeton (Dec. 20) and Horizon League favorite Green Bay (Dec. 30).
