The Dayton area is home to one of the best drummers in history, but we already knew that.
Funk music pioneer James "Diamond" Williams has made "Rolling Stone" magazine's "100 Greatest Drummers of All Time" list.
The Ohio Players drummer and leader landed in 72nd place on list.
Here is a little of what the magazine says on its website:
"Williams' unfussy but intermittently explosive drumming would motor these tracks along – his steady funk bottom could burst unexpectedly into rambunctious fills, even on ballads like "I Want to Be Free."
