Eat your way through Germany at TASTE event this weekend

Oktoberfest season may be over, but if you are a fan of German food, you can get your fill this weekend.

TASTE Your German Heritage, an epicurean tour hosted by the Dayton Liederkranz Turner German Club, will give visitors a sampling of the traditional foods of four regions of Germany.

The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Dayton Liederkranz Turner building, 1400 E. Fifth St. in Dayton.

Food can be sampled from Hamburg in the North;, Stuttgart in the South, Dresden in the East and Duesseldorf in the West.

The menu — also featuring appetizers, wine and beer — will include:

• North (Hamburg): Labskaus and Mini fishcake slider — dessert: rote Grütze

• South (Stuttgart): Kaesespaetzle and Maultaschen — dessert: apfelkuechle

• East (Dresden): Soljanka Suppe and Christstollen —dessert: eierschecke

• West (Duesseldorf): Himmel u Erde and Gruenkohl — dessert: krapfen (gefüllt)

The event is a fundraiser for the German Genealogy Group and helps fund programming.

There will also be German folk dancing demonstrations from the Volkstaenzer Group.
