Here’s some good news for local residents who can’t get enough of a good story.
Yellow Springs-based WYSO 91.3 will bring “This American Life” host Ira Glass and The Moth Radio Hour to downtown Dayton for two special events.
Glass will present “Seven Things I’ve Learned” at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Schuster Center, 1 W. Second St.
Five storytellers will present at the Moth Mainstage beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Victoria Theatre, 138 N. Main St.
“It was so well received the first time, and we really like that they used two local storytellers. All the parts of it was a good experience,” WYSO General Manager Luke Dennis said of The Moth, which was staged here in April 2019.
The stories presented in November will be new, as will be the presenters.
VIP ticket packages for Ira Glass’ “Seven Things I’ve Learned” will be offered as thank you gifts during WYSO’s Spring Membership Drive, March 10-14.
The remaining tickets will go on sale March 19.
Tickets for The Moth will go on sale in August.
Tickets for both events will be available through ticketcenterstage.com and the Victoria Theatre Association box office.
“This American Life,” an hour-long radio program produced by Chicago Public Media and Glass, airs Saturdays at noon on WYSO, a “community-owned” NPR affiliate established in 1958.
Glass last appeared in Dayton on May 22, 2011, in a sold-out show at the Victoria Theatre.
The Moth Radio Hour airs Wednesday at 11 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. on the radio show.
