Emilio Estevez coming to Dayton this weekend

Special Sunday screening and Q&A at the Neon Movies is sold out

Dayton-area residents scooped up tickets to a Sunday screening of a new movie within hours of it being publicized that Emilio Estevez would be there.

Estevez is scheduled to answer questions at the Neon movie theater, 130 E. Fifth St. in downtown Dayton, following the 7:30 p.m. screening on April 7 of his new critically-acclaimed film "The Public."

A Hollywood star who helped put Daytonians on the big screen will be in town Sunday.

Emilio Estevez will be at the Neon movie theater, 130 E. Fifth St. in downtown Dayton, for a 7:30 p.m. screening on April 7 of his new critically-acclaimed film "The Public," according to Film Dayton, a nonprofit charged with building this community's film industry.

Tickets for the screening are $9.50 each. 

Estevez will participate in a Q & A session following the screening.

A list of local actors that includes musician John W. Harden, retired U.S. Marshal and Huber Heights police officer "Hickory" William Taylor and Dayton native Bryant Louis Bentley are extras in the film Estevez filmed in Cincinnati.

Estevez is the son of Dayton native Martin Sheen, who was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez and still maintains ties to Dayton.

“The Public” centers around a police standoff with homeless library patrons who have staged a sit-in during a life-threatening cold snap.
