“People come from all over the world to attend this event here in Columbus,” Salisbury said.
Four days jam-packed — neatly, with straight edges and crisp folds because, you know, origami — with workshops, classes, exhibitions and more begin Thursday at noon at the Marriott Northwest hotel in Dublin. Over 80 origami classes are taught during the convention, catering to every skill level. There are even intensive beginner’s workshops meant for people who have never folded before.
Prices range from $190 to just $50 for Friday beginners workshops. For anyone just wanting to marvel at the creations, there is a FREE window of opportunity on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will be open to the public at no charge.

“To put these in perspective, most are folded from a single piece of paper, with no cuts. Just folded. The alligator was folded from a single six-foot square of paper. Other pieces may be folded from one-inch paper, or many units folded, then assembled. Some pieces, such as the hermit crab are folded from paper with different colors on the two sides of the sheet. By incredibly detailed control of the folding pattern you control which color is showing — so that hermit crab is one piece of paper, but the crab and shell are two different colors,” Salisbury said.
