A shopping adventure awaits at Waynesville’s antique stores

Few small towns locally can boast about the number of attractions and events throughout the year that Waynesville can.

On the Sunday of Memorial and Labor Day weekends there is the Old Main Street Antique Show, which takes over downtown.

The Ohio Renaissance Festival from August to October is a spectacular spectacle, and then there's all of that delicious fermented cabbage at the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival in October.

And then there are all of those great stores.

This year's Christmas in the Village event may be over, but from now until Christmas you can make your own Christmas in the Village by shopping and exploring the more than 60 shops and restaurants.

Here are just a few stores in town that caught our eye a few weeks ago during a shopping excursion.

Etselle

69 S Main Street, Waynesville

513-897-6937

Inside of the Waynesville Antique Mall is a doorway that reads — Etselle. This boutique offers a host of gifts, fashion, home decor and handmade products in a warm rustic country atmosphere. There are lots of items under $20 that won't break the bank and will make great gifts.

Lilly’s Corner Mall

105 S. Main St., Waynesville

513-897-0388

Lilly’s Corner Mall covers a 7,000-square-foot area and hosts 28 vendors. They offer great prices and discounts on cash and check purchases on any items over $20.

Redemption Antiques

22 N. Main St., Waynesville

937-840-8634

Many times, visits to multiple antique store can bleed together. After a while, the shops can often feel similar and by the end of the day it may be hard to remember where you've been. So when you run into an antique store with a sense of humor that puts it on display in nearly every corner, it sticks with you. Redemption Antiques does this really well. The shop is filled with interesting and unusual objects that you may or may not want to walk out with, but are very fun to look at. The cow skull with readers, the meat grinder with a doll arm sticking out and a primitive Krampus sculpture on a bike are just a few of the things that stuck with us. This is an entertaining stop with an inventory that changes frequently.

Touch of Heaven

258 S. Main St., Waynesville

513-855-1033

This is another antique shop that's an adventure waiting with a variety of really interesting and unique items. From jukeboxes to a stable of antique wooden horses to slot machines, they have large items and plenty of smaller more affordable pieces.

Village Salvage

85 S. Main St., Waynesville

513-914-4177

This is the shop in Waynesville that will remind you most of A&E's hit show “American Pickers.” Furniture, decor, and salvaged items from old buildings, homes and factories make this a hipster’s decorating paradise.

Winsome Cottage

93 S. Main St., Waynesville

513-897-0667

Get here now while you can. They are having a storewide sale and are retiring on Jan. 30. There are some good deals to be had at Winsome Cottage where vintage meets new and shabby meets industrial to create an ever changing selection of restyled furniture and repurposed decor for your home.
