China Royal restaurant has closed

The China Royal restaurant in downtown Dayton has closed permanently.

After remaining open for more than 20 years, the China Royal restaurant in downtown Dayton has officially shut down, citing a grease fire as the main reason for its closing, according to Dayton Business Journal.

The restaurant operated out of the Biltmore building at 210 N. Main St. and opened in 1992. It was known for its popular Chinese lunch buffet.

AIMCO owns and manages the Biltmore building, overseeing the retail space along with the apartments. Lempke said the company is actively looking for another tenant to fill the 3,000-square-foot space and plans to address the issues that caused the fire.

"We are going to clean up that space and have that ready to be back online for a new tenant," she said.
