Dayton NAACP president re-elected to sixth term

The Dayton Unit of the NAACP re-elected its president Sunday to a sixth two-year term.

Derrick L. Foward was voted to remain president during the civil rights organization’s biennial election at the local NAACP office.

“I am humbled and truly appreciate the members of the Dayton Unit NAACP for believing in my leadership and entrusting me to lead the organization for another two years,: Foward said in a statement released Sunday night. “We will remain focused on our 21st Century Game Changers, which are as follows: economic sustainability; education; health; public safety and criminal justice; and voting rights and political representation.”

Foward’s sixth term runs from Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2018.
