Mad River Mountain unveils new ski lodge

Mad River Mountain has unveiled renderings of the new lodge planned to open on the site, where fire damaged the former lodge in September.

The $6.5 million lodge will be nearly twice the size of the building it replaces and will be 46,000 square feet, according to the business.

The two-story building will have seating for over 300 skiers and snowboarders on the second floor, and over 800 seats will be available of the first floor dining area, when it opens for the 2016/2017 ski season.

The second level will have elevator access, a live music stage and a side deck, with views of the mountain.

The 2016/2017 season will be the 55th winter season for the slopes.
