Another restaurant has shut down inside the Mall at Fairfield Commons, but it is looking to relocate elsewhere, and the space it vacated may not be empty for long.

A locally owned Phantom Pizza shop, which opened in December 2014 in the mall's food court, has shut down, according to its owner, Ahmed Taha.

“We are moving outside of the mall to the Dayton area,” Taha told this news outlet via email. He did provide details.

A second, larger location of Phantom Pizza inside the Dayton Mall, across from its food court, remains open and operating business as usual, as does a third carry-out location in northern Cincinnati, Taha said.

Phantom Pizza occupied 1,106 square feet in the Beavercreek mall’s food court, serving up New York-style pizzas as well as salads, baked ziti, lasagna, and other Italian dishes.

Prior to Phanton Pizza’s 2014 opening, the Mall at Fairfield Commons space had previously housed Sbarro Pizza. A current mall tenant, and an employee of Phantom Pizza’s Dayton Mall store, both told this news outlet Sunday that there was a strong possibility Sbarro would return to the space.

Messages left with a spokeswoman for the Mall at Fairfield Commons were not immediately returned.

Fairfield Commons mall officials confirmed last week that the mall's food court would add Gyro King this spring in space that previously housed Designer Dogs, which shut down last year.
