The splash pad is part of the Bennett Play Depot at Xenia Station, which was constructed just three years ago. The Depot also includes an extensive playground area for children. The park's signature landmark is a reconstructed replica of a former telegraph building, which contains restrooms, a classroom and a historic museum. Another landmark at the site is an authentically restored caboose.
“We will be reopening as soon as the state allows playgrounds to reopen. The Splash Pad, which is in the same area, will be opening on Monday, June 1st,” Christina Schaefer, Public Relations Coordinator for the city of Xenia, said.
Picnic tables near the splash pad have been removed, but four benches have been set up around the perimeter in order for parents and guardians to maintain social distancing. The Xenia Station restrooms, which have been closed until now, will be cleaned twice a day.
