Salar Restaurant and Lounge, 400 E. Fifth St. in Dayton's Oregon District, has donated $3,600 to Dayton Children's Hospital Burn Program.
The restaurant raised the money during its soft opening and grand opening events in September.

Salar reopened to the public on Oct. 1.
It and a half-dozen other nearby businesses received major smoke and/or fire damage when a blaze broke out at the restaurant early Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.

Salar owner and executive chef Margot Blondet said she was touched by the support the community showed to her restaurant and staff.
“Dayton has showed us the true meaning of community, that when things get tough, we come together to help one another,” she said in a press release. “I felt a responsibility to share the kindness of my friends and neighbors to help families that are experiencing hardship.”
The donation is intended to help needy families who cannot afford to purchase the necessary medical supplies to treat injuries.

"We are so thankful for the generous donation from Salar Restaurant and Lounge," Franki Meier, Dayton Children's Donor Engagement Specialist, said. "It's only through support like this that we can continue to provide the very best care close to home for the more than 350,000 children that need Dayton Children's every year."
