More than a dozen Dayton-area restaurants will offer a sneak peek of what they’ll be offering during the upcoming Winter Restaurant Week at a preview party from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the White Allen European Auto Group showroom at 648 N. Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) north of the Dayton Mall.
Tickets for the Miami Valley Restaurant Association's Sneak Peek to Winter Restaurant Week Presented by Dayton's Very Own Buckeye Vodka cost $20.16 in advance (available at the White Allen European Group showroom or online at dineoutdayton.com) or $25 at the door. Last year's event sold out, according to MVRA Executive Director Amy Zahora.
Admission includes unlimited samples from the 15 participating restaurants and one drink ticket. Additional beverages can be purchased. New this year: for an additional $8, attendees can purchase a wine flight consisting of four two-ounce samples of premium wines.
Here’s a tentative list of restaurants that will offer an early look at the dishes they’ll offer for Restaurant Week, and some of those “Sneak Peek” offerings that were available at press time. Check our website for updates as the event approaches.
• Basil's on Market, Troy: Lobster Shells and cheese, with house-made smoked gouda sauce tossed with lobster meat and finished with a seared shrimp, and Pork Tostada, fried won-ton topped with shredded roasted pork with house-made chili lime slaw and house-made sriracha sauce.
• El Meson, West Carrollton: Cuban Pork Tenderloin with Mojo served on Arroz con Gandules (Puerto Rican Rice and Peas)
• Meadowlark/Wheat Penny (Washington Twp./Dayton)
• Melting Pot, Washington Twp.: Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
• Nibbles Restaurant, Miamisburg
• P.F. Chang's, Miami Twp.: Hand-Folded Crab Won-tons: Crispy won-tons filled with crab, bell peppers and green onion, served with a spicy plus sauce; and Kung Pao Chicken: Chicken in Spicy Sichuan chili sauce tossed with peanuts, celery, scallions and red chili peppers.

ABOUT RESTAURANT WEEK
Winter Restaurant Week will start Jan. 24 at all participating restaurants and run for eight nights, through Jan. 31. Diners can sample a special three-course meal priced at $20.16, $25.16 or $30.16. A handful of restaurants and sports bars are offering two-for-one meals at those price points.
