We love a good showdown, especially a delicious one.
It’s once again time for the Chef Showdown at the Dayton Convention Center this weekend as part of the annual Home and Outdoor Living Show. It’s the fourth year in a row that Dayton’s best chefs will battle it out for $500 and most importantly, bragging rights.

Hosted by Planned2Give and Dayton Dining, the Showdown consists of three preliminary rounds at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, with finals held on Sunday March 10, at 1 p.m. This year, a new student competition is planned for Friday night. "Details are still being worked out for the student division," according to a Showdown Facebook post.
With 20 minutes, a mystery box of ingredients and a stocked food pantry, these talented local chefs are challenged to create an appetizer for the judges. This year, insiders said barbecue sauce will be involved. Anyone interested in competing can apply online here.
The 2019 Dayton Home & Outdoor Living show is the largest of its kind in the region. More than 200 of the area's premier exhibitors which gather under one roof at the Dayton Convention Center to showcase the latest in Home Improvement, Outdoor Living, Kitchen & Bath Design, Culinary Demonstrations and the Famous Chef Showdown. Come to get ideas, expert advice and look at new product displays. Many of our exhibitors will be offering their best prices of the year at this show.
Tickets to the Home Show are free on Friday and $10 on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets purchased in advance are $5. You can purchase tickets here. The show will run Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
