🌊🌞Kroger Aquatic Center at the Heights

The Kroger Aquatic Center at the Heights, located in Huber Heights, opened on June 1. The public pool will be operating from 1-8 p.m. daily, with Monday and Wednesday reserved only for Huber Heights residents and season passholders.
Certain precautions, like frequent sanitation, new capacity rules and adjustments to seating, have been made to ensure the safety of the pool’s patrons. Anyone with a fever or symptoms of illness will not be allowed to enter the pool.
The Kroger Aquatic Center boasts a number of favorite summertime activities, like a lazy river and water jungle gym.
Pricing for day passes is as follows:
- Seniors (60 or older): $5 for Huber Heights resident, $7 for nonresident
- Adult (18-59): $6 for Huber Heights resident, $8 for nonresident
- Youth (3-17): $5 for Huber Heights resident, $7 for nonresident
- Children two and under are free
Until further notice, no events or parties at the pool will be taking place.

At this point, the Troy Recreation Board plans to open the Troy Aquatic Park on Monday, June 15, and to close the pool on Sunday, Aug. 16. The pool will be open from Monday through Friday from 12:30-8 p.m., Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-7 p.m. Throughout the month of August, the pool will close every night at 7 p.m.
In order to meet the guidelines outlined by the state of Ohio, concession stand offerings will be modified (guests will still be able to bring in their own food and beverages) and limited lounge chairs will be available (patrons are permitted to bring their own). There will also be no swim team, water aerobics, swim lessons, party deck rentals and private party rentals, locker rentals or showers available to the public.
Daily admission rates are as follows:
- Two and under: Free
- Ages 3–5: $3
- Ages 6–59: $6
Ages 60+: $4
All season passholders will automatically receive a full refund beginning on June 1.

Gardner Memorial Pool in Oakwood will open to the public once again beginning on Saturday, June 6. The pool will be open from noon to 8 p.m. daily until the city’s school starts back up in August. At that point, the pool will be open from Monday through Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. until Labor Day, on Monday, Sep. 7.
You must be a member to have access to the pool, and only Oakwood residents can be members of the Gardner Memorial Pool. Babysitters and guests of members must also acquire passes.
If you would like to purchase a membership to the pool, you can do so in one of three ways:
- Mail your completed form with a check to the Oakwood Community Center, located at 105 Patterson Rd., Oakwood, OH 45419.
- Drop off your completed form in an envelope marked “OCC POOL MEMBERSHIP” with a check made payable to the OCC to the lobby at the City Building, 30 Park Avenue. There is a mailbox to the left when you walk in the front doors.
- Scan your signed membership form to occ@oakwood.oh.us, then call the OCC at 937-298-0775 with a credit card number (Mastercard, Visa or Discover) during OCC Business hours.

🌊🌞Black Oak Swim Club

Black Oak Swim Club, a private swim club in Centerville, opened to the public on May 26. The pool will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The adult-only swim takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on Sundays. This year, those immune-compromised folks and seniors over the age of 65 will have free reign of the pool from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Additionally, the concession stand will be open from 12:30-8 p.m. all week long.
In order to ensure the safety of its guests, the Black Oak Swim Club will be putting down visual markers around lifeguard stations and the edges of the pool to remind its guests of social distancing guidelines. Tables and lounge chairs will also be spaced out to enforce social distancing. To keep everyone safe, be sure to sanitize your spaces frequently. All members should have received an email with thorough coronavirus-related guidelines. All members must have their membership cards while at the pool in order for the staff to better enforce capacity rules.
The swim club is not currently accepting new memberships for the 2020 season, and there is now a wait list for 2021 memberships.

🌊🌞Germantown Aquatic Center
As of right now, the Germantown Aquatic Center is hoping to reopen on Tuesday, June 9 and close around mid-August. At this time, only German Township and Germantown residents will have access to the pool.
In order to ensure the health and safety of patrons, new capacity limits will be enforced at the pool, separating time spent in the pool into “waves.”
These waves occur during the following times:
- Wave one: 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Free senior citizens 62+ only
- Wave two: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; $3
- Wave three: 2:30-5:30 p.m.: $3
- Wave four: 6-8 p.m.; $2.00
The half-hour breaks between each wave is taking place to allow staff members to thoroughly sanitize the pool. Those who wish to again in the same day must re-enter the pool, pay again and move to the back of the line. Only 100 people are permitted in the pool at one time and admission will be first-come first-served. Admission will be sold by daily pass only and the Germantown Aquatic Center will not be selling memberships for fear that members may not be able to enter the pool at all times.
For the first few weeks, the pool will not be offering concessions. Additionally, in order to abide by local regulations, the pool will not be hosting swim teams, swim lessons, daycare centers, pool parties or after hours pool parties.

Though the New Carlisle Pool has yet to announce an opening date, staff members have noted that they would like to do so “as soon as possible.” As of now, the season, once it begins, will run through Aug. 19.
With its heated pool, sand volleyball court, basketball court and baby pool, the New Carlisle Pool has many additional perks to offer its guests.
Daily admission rates are as follows:
- Student (5-17): $5
- Seniors (65 and up): $5
- Adults (18-64): $6
- Non-swimmers: $3
Membership passes may be purchased at the New Carlisle city building on Church St. The application is available by visiting the city of New Carlisle's website. Drop this application off with a payment in the drop box located by the city building. The family of 4 season pass is $225, while rates for individuals range from $50 to $125.

🌊🌞Melody Pool Swim Club
Seeking a laid back summer escape? Become a member at the Melody Pool Swim Club in Clayton. Along with pools, the swim club, now open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., boasts a number of opportunities for family fun on its expansive grounds, including a sand volleyball court, ping pong, a play set with a slide and swings and cornhole. The season is expected to run through Sep. 7.
The Melody Pool Swim Club is following state guidelines for safety by encouraging their guests to practice social distancing and to stay home when they feel sick. Staff members have also marked six-inch guides on the pool deck to further help with social distancing. Spray bottles with Lysol will be offered to guests to wipe down their chairs and other public property. Only 160 to 180 people will be allowed in the pool at once to ensure everyone keeps an appropriate distance.
Membership prices are as follows:
- Individual: $235
- Family of 2: $365
- Family of 3: $415
- Family of 4: $455
- Each additional family member: $40
- Babysitter/grandparents: $85

POOLS THAT WILL NOT OPEN THIS SEASON
- ADVENTURE REEF: The City of Kettering has announced that Adventure Reef at the Kettering Recreation Center will be closed this summer.
- TIPPECANOE FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER: The City of Tipp City announced the Tippecanoe Family Aquatic Center will be closed for the 2020 season.
- SYCAMORE TRAILS AQUATIC CENTER: The City of Miamisburg announced Sycamore Trails Aquatic Center will not open in 2020.
- SPLASH ZONE: The Ohio, National Trail Parks and Recreation District announced that Splash Zone in Springfield will not open this season.
